Kelley Blue Book ® - 2001 Chrysler Voyager Overview

The Plymouth brand is clearly going the way of the dodo, yet only a dodo would let the Voyager name go with it. Wisely, DaimlerChrysler has moved the Voyager to the powerful Chrysler line where, although it shares its platform with the luxurious Town & Country, the Voyager will remain an entry level minivan. Available only with the 113-inch wheelbase, the Voyager is offered in two trim levels, base and LX.

The base Voyager comes standard with a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine, producing 150-horsepower. Although frugal, owners may find it lacking in power given the Voyager's weight. A move up to the LX brings with it the 3.3-liter V6, rated at 180-horsepower and more importantly, 210 lbs.-ft. of torque at 4000 rpm. Remember, torque is what moves weight, horsepower is how fast that weight can go after it gets moving.

Standard features include multistage front driver and passenger airbags, air conditioning, lockable storage drawer and front and rear intermittent wipers. The LX adds the 3.3-liter V6, power windows and door locks, electric rear window defrost, dual folding heated mirrors, tilt wheel and speed control. Power sliding side doors can be ordered only on the LX and neither base nor LX offer the nifty new power rear lift gate.

The good news here is the Chrysler name may add to the resale value of the Voyager.
